“This is an excellent opportunity for staff to add to their CPD. The course is informative, relevant and interesting and would be of benefit to anyone involved in dance education. It is a great course to develop and expand staff qualifications, particularly those who have industry experience but lack formal teaching qualifications.” Tracey Lee – Principal at Performers College
“The Safe Dance Practice course has truly changed the way I teach – I now have so much more knowledge about warming up, cooling down, lesson structure and ensuring a safe dance space. The course has enhanced my skills as a dance leader and provided me with so many ideas and tools to use with dancers of any age or ability. Charlotte is a fantastic course tutor and so knowledgable about her subject areas – this course is a must for anyone working within the dance industry”. Tahnee Lawson – Community Dance Practitioner
The Certification has been written at Level 5, which in the UK is the level equivalent to that of the second year of a three year degree course, or the third year of a four year degree course.
The Healthy Dance Practice Certification is unique in its specificity. The aim of the certification is to recognize best practice in delivering safe and effective dance activity. Candidates registering for the certification will be assessed regarding their knowledge of the key principles underlying healthy dance practice, and, in achieving the certificate, candidates will be able to demonstrate their knowledge of healthy dance practice to employers, parents, and participants. Dancers at all levels will have confidence that the person teaching, rehearsing or coaching them is certified and has demonstrated mastery of the knowledge required to work safely and effectively with professional dancers, dancers in training, children, and dancers in the community.
The certification is applicable to those working across all sectors of the dance profession and is applicable to all styles of dance, from ballet to ballroom, contemporary to hip-hop, tap to bharatanatyam, and Ariel dance to Zumba.
The Healthy Dance Practice certification will involve training and assessment on the topics that every teacher should know to keep their dancers healthy.
This covers a range of training including:
~ Nutrition and hydration

I expected to feel a little un-knowledgeable or naive as I have not done any theory work but everyone made me feel very welcome and I have learned that everyone cannot know everything!
